VITAC, a Verbit company, provided English and Spanish captions and audio description, localization services, and post-production ABS scripts for the sixth season of the popular Peacock reality series “Love Island USA.”

Based on the hit British dating show, “Love Island USA” follows a group of singles who pair up (and break up) in tropical surroundings while competing in games and challenges. This season’s show fast-became the No. 1 reality series in the United States across all streaming platforms, ranked in the Top 10 SVOD Original Series since its debut in June.

“VITAC stepped into Season 6 of a well-oiled machine and did a great job keeping up as a new vendor,” said Danielle DiStefano, Chief Technology Officer at ITV America, producer of “Love Island USA.” “This show takes a village and the VITAC team worked with us on extremely quick turnarounds to make it a successful delivery to our network partners.”

VITAC provided live English captions for the initial broadcasts of “Love Island USA” and verbatim post-production English and Spanish captions within four hours of each episode’s airing. From this post-production file, VITAC’s team was able to quickly produce As-Broadcast Scripts (ABS) for the show’s producers that included dialogue, sound effects, and timecode, speaker, and on-screen graphics information.

VITAC also provided human-voiced audio description ─ a narrative description of onscreen actions, visual cues such as characters and costumes, and text ─ in English and Spanish, enabling viewers who are blind or with low vision to more easily follow each episode.

Localization services for “Love Island USA” included translating the show into Spanish and providing human-voiced dubbing for this season’s episodes, adapting the translated script to ensure the dubbed dialogue matched the lip movements of the characters on screen while capturing all the nuances and colloquialisms of the Spanish-spoken language.

“It was an absolute pleasure to work on this juggernaut of a show,” said Claire Brown, Vice President of Global Sales at VITAC. “VITAC is well positioned to support both live content and fast turnaround requests in multiple languages. This popular reality show is broadcast almost every day over a six-week period. It was essential we supported the production team with a round-the-clock service across many time zones. As a long-time partner of ITV America, our commitment to deliver high quality deliverables on very short turnarounds was our top priority.”
