Chris Crowell is a highly accomplished executive with more than 25 years of leadership experience building collaborative, client-focused organizations. He has led several companies in growth through market-aligned solutions, products, and services, all the while following the belief that there is nothing more important than the customer. Prior to joining VITAC, Chris started his career at GE and moved on to hold CxO or leadership roles with Enterasys, Extreme Networks, Computer Associates, Concord Communications, Aprisma, Cabletron, Modicon, and Computrol. Chris most recently was a Managing Director at The Gores Group, holding board chairman positions in a number of portfolio companies. He earned an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University, a Masters in Computer Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Western New England University.
Joe Antonio is an experienced technology leader specializing in the improvement of Information Technology delivery to positively influence business growth and improve services. Prior to joining VITAC, Joe served in technical executive leadership positions at Acrometis, Hewlett-Packard, and Bluestone Software, among others. His specialties include high-tech product and services management, start-up, high-growth enterprises, mergers and acquisitions, business development, operational design, and team building.
Gareth Morrison is a seasoned finance and operations executive with more than 15 years of software and technology experience gathered while working for leading public and private equity backed companies across the globe. This experience enables him to drive improvement and transformation initiatives across all areas, ensuring that businesses have a strong platform to deliver consistent growth with healthy operating margins for maximum shareholder returns. Prior to VITAC, Gareth was CFO of Swiftpage, an SaaS business delivering CRM solutions to small business owners, where he led initiatives to optimize business operations to support growth at scale while significantly improving operating margins. Gareth has held various CxO or leadership roles prior to Swiftpage at large companies in North America, the Middle East, and South Africa. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, and a Master’s Degree in Finance from Indiana University.
Ben Roybal is VITAC’s Chief Technology Officer, specializing in strategic product, technical, and operational management. He has been a leader in the captioning industry since 2012, serving in several key management positions overseeing operations, scheduling, information technology, and software engineering. An experienced technologist and senior manager, he previously worked at the Gart Companies, GolfTEC, and Lockheed Martin as well as in the banking, private equity, education, and entertainment sectors.
Doug Karlovits, VITAC’s Chief Business Development Officer, has been deeply involved in all aspects of our business since his father, Joe Karlovits, founded the company in 1986. Doug started as an office manager, but was quickly promoted to VP, Prerecorded Operations, where he expanded the company’s offline volume by 100%, developed and launched our Multi-language subtitling division, and created our Client Sales and Services department. In his current role, Doug manages the accounts of VITAC’s largest realtime customers, oversees our sales team, predicts and analyzes revenue, and works to create new technical solutions in our ever-changing industry. His clear understanding of client needs and his ability to grow with the captioning industry have made him an invaluable part of the team.
Chuck Karlovits joined VITAC in 1990 and has led our finance, administration, live, and prerecorded departments. As Chief Captioning Officer, he now leads all operations – live, offline, and Multi-language subtitling. He’s recognized for his guidance during this period of massive cultural and technological change in the industry. In his tenure, he’s seen our realtime and offline businesses grow exponentially, year after year. In addition to day-to-day management, Chuck is deeply involved in the development of new products and efficiencies, budgeting, scheduling, and the creation of technical solutions to complex situations. Prior to joining VITAC, he served as office manager for Block Court Reporting. Chuck holds master’s degrees in Management Information Systems and Business Administration from Duquesne University, and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Dayton. Chuck has been on the Board of Directors of Hearing and Deaf Services since 2004, and has served as its treasurer and on its executive committee.
Serge Forest is a seasoned business executive with more than 25 years of experience in technology organizations of all sizes. His background includes over 20 years in the fields of captioning, speech-to-text, natural language processing and/or machine learning. Throughout his career, he has thrived in creating groundbreaking opportunities for new technologies through strategic business insight and by establishing trustful relationships with employees, clients, partners, and investors. Prior to joining VITAC, Serge was CEO of SOVO Technologies, which was acquired by VITAC in September 2020. Before that, Serge has held several leadership positions at companies such as Sangoma Technologies, Paraxip Technologies, Nuance Communications, and Nortel Networks. He earned both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from l’École Polytechnique de Montréal.
Heather York, VITAC’s Vice President of Marketing and Government Affairs, has been deeply involved in closed captioning and video accessibility at VITAC for 28 years. She is responsible for strategy and coordination of VITAC’s internal and external communications, and oversees marketing, advertising, product development, corporate communications, and social and traditional media. Heather serves as VITAC’s advocacy expert in various organizations, and worked with a cross-disability coalition to ensure the passage of the 21st Century Video Accessibility Act, which ensured individuals who rely on captions are not left behind as video is distributed via IP or online. She also represented VITAC as one of four caption companies responsible for the creation of captioning “best practices” issued by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as part of a Report and Order in 2014, and currently is serving her third term as a member of the FCC’s Disability Advisory Committee.
Bryan Bodhaine, Senior Vice President of Finance, has been with VITAC since 2017. He manages the finance and accounting initiatives of VITAC, and was instrumental in the consolidation and integration of the back office functions during the VITAC/Caption Colorado merger. He began his career in public accounting with Deloitte & Touche, and has since held executive-level finance and operational roles with public and private companies in a variety of industries. He has a proven track record of building and managing successful accounting teams, and has been on the buy and sell side of more than 20 acquisitions with strategic and private equity buyers, ranging from $1M to $320M. Bryan holds a degree in Business Economics and Accounting from UC Santa Barbara, and is a CPA (inactive) in the State of Colorado.
