Take 1, now VITAC, provided post-production scripts for the ground-breaking BBC One Drama “Years and Years,” produced by RED Production Company

“Years and Years” is an epic saga that takes an ordinary family and catapults them through the next 15 years. The series of six, 30-minute episodes stars Emma Thompson.

VITAC has supported delivery of the series to both BBC One and HBO by preparing post-production scripts at picture lock and final version stages. Producing picture lock post-production scripts makes it possible for broadcasters to start working on localization before the final program is delivered, speeding up international distribution. The post-production scripts provided included a full, timecoded transcription of all dialogue, captions, and credits, as well as music cue information. With content security a key concern, RED used VITAC’s secure uploader to submit programs for transcription.

RED is an independent production company based at Manchester’s MediaCity and has produced some of the UK’s most popular and critically acclaimed drama series for the country’s top broadcasters over the last 20 years. Credits include “Queer as Folk” for Channel 4, “Bob & Rose“ for ITV, “Last Tango in Halifax” for BBC One, and “The Five” for Sky 1. The company has worked with Take 1 on previous drama series including “Trust Me,” which had similar delivery requirements.

“[VITAC] has been exceptional at producing our broadcast scripts for ‘Years and Years,’” said Emily Brauders, Post Producer at RED Production Company. “Having the ability to turn them around quickly and securely is what drew us to the company, and they have done this to an exceptionally high standard with great attention to detail. We will continue to use their services for future shows.”
