If you’re gearing up to head to the first physical NAB Show in Vegas since 2019, you’re probably busy making travel and accommodation plans. But after you’ve booked your hotel and made your packing list, you might forget to take advantage of everything around you when you’re there. VITAC is busy gearing up for the NAB Show, too, and we’ve even put together a list of things to see and do while in town. The best part? You don’t have to worry about long car rides or ground logistics, everything on this list is within a five-mile radius of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Not your average Ferris wheel, the High Roller is the largest observation wheel in the world, comprised of enclosed and air-conditioned transparent pods for maximum comfort, viewing, and photo taking. While this attraction offers an ideal break from your busy NAB schedule, just two miles from the convention center means you shouldn’t have to worry about factoring in traffic or a long ride to or from. The High Roller, itself, does take about 30 minutes, so you’ll probably want to hit the bathroom before boarding.
If you’re hungry to get a taste of what’s outside the convention center, Lotus of Siam offers a flavorful lunch or dinner. Less than two miles from the NAB show location, you’re unlikely to get lost headed to or from your meal, but you might get lost in flavor, as the restaurant has received praise from the likes of famous chefs Anthony Bourdain and Giada De Laurentiis
3. Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay
If the desert air has you feeling a little dry, try checking out what’s under the sea. While this location might warrant more time away from NAB, at four miles from the convention center it’s a bit more of a trip, and you’ll want to ensure plenty of time to dive in. And don’t let the name fool you ─ while this aquarium features plenty of sharks, as well as a chance to feed them, it’s home to over 2,000 animals, including endangered green sea turtles and Komodo dragon
Speaking of dry, if you’d rather dive into a cold one, the Las Vegas craft beer scene has you covered. Breweries have popped up all over the city and greater area in recent years, many clustered around Vegas’ Arts District. Brewery Row includes eight craft breweries and three taprooms that serve craft beers from the local breweries. At just over two miles from the convention center, it’s a quick trek and affords an opportune time to check out indie art galleries and performance spaces.
5. Live Shows
It wouldn’t be Vegas if you didn’t check out a show, right? With multiple venues practically in the Convention Center’s backyard, there’s plenty of options. And in addition to the variety of magic, comedy, and variety shows, you’ve got multiple chances to catch Lady Gaga or John Legend performing live. Both artists will be in town for the entire duration of the NAB Show.
And one thing more – check out the VITAC booth at NAB.
